Biography

Member Nicholas Loos was appointed to the Land Court of Queensland on 31 May 2024. Previously, Member Loos appeared in a range of property, planning, local government, water, heritage, valuation and mining cases. 

In recent years, Nicholas had appeared in cases concerning:

  • Development approvals for significant sites in Brisbane, North Queensland and Far North Queensland;

  • The valuation of key CBD parcels of land;

  • The development and maintenance of mining infrastructure;

  • The determination of financial assurance for mine sites;

  • State and local heritage;

  • Determination of complex infrastructure charging arrangements; and

  • Enforcement/ prosecution actions involving allegations of serious environmental harm.

Nicholas also had a broad ranging advisory practice and is experienced in representing clients in alternative dispute resolution.
